As of July 2026, an unattributed 'Unknown' bucket holds 18.31% of ChatGPT's Wedding Planning & Services ad placements, more than any named brand. Destination specialists, travel engines, registries, and B2B SaaS fill out the leaderboard; traditional wedding vendors and venues are nearly absent from paid placements.

Unknown beats every named brand. Thirteen of 71 placements (18.31%) sit in an unattributed bucket, more than DestinationWeddings.com (11.27%) or Modern Destination Weddings (8.45%). Either attribution is broken or there is genuinely no incumbent, and either reading points to the same action: the cost of being early is still low.

Booking.com and Expedia run 8 placements between them, monetizing adjacent travel intent inside wedding prompts. A planner, photographer, or venue scanning the leaderboard for their peers will mostly find booking engines and an 'Unknown' bucket above them, not their actual competitors.

Destination-led intent dwarfs apparel. The 'wedding, resort, guests, destination' cluster registers 92 weighted signals across 24 advertisers, nearly six times the dresses cluster at 16 weighted signals across 9 advertisers.

Wedding vendors are nearly absent from their own ChatGPT ad surface.

Where the intent actually lives

What people actually ask ChatGPT about weddings
8 real prompts
Ritz-Carlton vs Four Seasons wedding cost breakdown
Sandals vs Beaches all-inclusive wedding which is actually better
Zola vs Joy which is better for a multicultural wedding website
Allure bridals 9603 vs 9700 which is more flattering on a pear shape
BHLDN bridesmaid dresses that work for a Jewish wedding

These are late-funnel comparisons, not top-of-funnel inspiration. A brand that publishes a structured answer to 'Ritz-Carlton vs Four Seasons wedding cost breakdown' is more likely to be the ad ChatGPT surfaces than a brand with a generic 'Luxury Weddings' landing page. CPMs on this surface should price like Google Ads bottom-of-funnel, not Pinterest inspiration.

SaaS players are running wedding prompts that don't fit their category. Monday.com has two placements, Jotform has four, and HoneyBook Inc, a wedding-vendor CRM, is the only true category-native brand in the set. The mismatch reads as either early arbitrage or a targeting misfire, but the cultural and diversity prompts (Jewish ceremony order, LGBTQ+ friendly vendors, multicultural wedding websites) appear with no obvious owner, an unclaimed lane for niche specialists.

What to do about it

Three actions for wedding vendors. First, treat the destination cluster (92 weighted signals, the largest in the niche) as the highest-intent surface on ChatGPT and reflect location-led intent in ad creative, even if you don't sell destination weddings. Second, move now while 'Unknown' still holds 18.31% of placements; the cost of being early is low, and the cost of being late is paying to dislodge whoever got there first. Third, build comparison-shaped content for the prompts actually being asked (Ritz vs Four Seasons, Sandals vs Beaches, Zola vs Joy, Allure Bridals 9603 vs 9700) instead of generic inspiration pages.
