ChatGPT's 'Career & Jobs' Ads Are Run by HR Tech, Not Job Boards

All 14 top prompts in ChatGPT's Career & Jobs niche are about AI interviewing, and HiBob runs 5.5x more placements than ZipRecruiter, the only consumer job board in the top ten.

You would expect a 'Career & Jobs' ad slot to be a battleground for Indeed, LinkedIn, and ZipRecruiter. None of them crack the top ten. The slot is owned by HiBob, Pebl, Checkr, Inc., Monday.com, and Workday, and the prompts that fill it are about AI-led interviewing for HR buyers, not jobs for candidates.

Every one of the 14 top triggering prompts is about AI interviewing or AI-led interview platforms, and HiBob alone runs 172 placements, 5.5x more than ZipRecruiter, the only traditional consumer job board in the top 10.

Eight of the top ten (HiBob, Pebl, Checkr, Monday.com, GoodTime, turrior ai, Global Squirrels, Workday) sell to HR departments, not job seekers. Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor do not appear in the top ten at all. The label says "career," the buyer is the HR director.

The "interview / AI interviewer" cluster is the most contested corner of the niche, with 75 prompts drawing 95 advertisers. The room to move sits in the sub-questions: SOC 2 compliance, implementation cost, and multinational rollouts are barely bid. Own one buyer question, not the cluster.

Checkr is the only advertiser in the sample running two ChatGPT campaigns split by HR sub-department: "26H1-growth-b2b-chatgpt-DEPT-hr-integrations" and "26H1-growth-b2b-chatgpt-DEPT-recruiting-and-hiring." Drata runs a TOFU "Frameworks" campaign and Carta runs both a brand-defense and a "corp-competitor" campaign. Winning this surface means targeting the HR sub-department, not the brand.

If you sell HRIS, ATS, background check, interview intelligence, or compliance, ChatGPT's Career & Jobs slot is functioning as a lower-funnel, research-mode version of your LinkedIn ABM, and you are probably under-buying it. If you run growth for a consumer job board or resume tool, this surface is structurally the wrong place. The 5.5x gap to HiBob is a buyer-mismatch problem, not a budget problem, and benchmarking your share here will mislead you for the next 18 months.
