As of July 2026, ChatGPT's beauty and skincare ad niche is led not by a brand but by an attribution gap called 'Unknown,' which holds 27.6% of placements. No real beauty company has decided to own this surface, so a brand that lands 8 to 10 placements becomes the named leader overnight.

The largest 'advertiser' in ChatGPT beauty is not a brand at all, it is an attribution gap. A real beauty brand that lands 8 to 10 placements immediately becomes the named leader, because the thing sitting on top of the leaderboard cannot be outbid, only replaced.

Below the tied trio, the marketplace goes flat. Six of the next-tier advertisers appear exactly twice, a count barely above noise. The category has no gravity.

Unknown alone holds more than a quarter of the niche. Top 3 combined is only 43.4%, leaving 56.6% fragmented across 32 advertisers, six of which appear exactly twice.

The prompts read like Reddit threads, not ad keywords

The real triggering prompts behind the beauty placements
8 real prompts
best Korean skincare products for glass skin and even skin tone
best affordable perfume dupes that smell exactly like designer fragrances
best anti-aging skincare routine for someone in their late 30s starting now
best at home gel nail kit for beginners that actually lasts two weeks
best body lotion for extremely dry skin with eczema that provides lasting relief

The intent cluster 'hair, skin, nail, doesnt' spans 115 mentions across 18 advertisers without a clear winner. It rewards one authoritative answer over the biggest spender, which is why matching SKUs to specific problem queries beats bidding on broad category terms like 'skincare.'

All 6 captured campaigns in this niche are non-beauty brands: AirOps, Answering Service Care, Brandlight, CarMax, GenOptima, and GlassesUSA.com. Monday.com itself shows up as a named advertiser on the leaderboard. Keyword bleed is active, and tightening match types and negative lists is the only defense.

Three of the 14 top captured prompts are not beauty queries at all. They are searches for a B2B tool called Verseodin, a productivity SaaS with no business in a skincare query. That is how deep the bleed runs inside this niche.

Bid on the long tail, not the category. Match your SKUs to Reddit-style queries your brand can actually answer authoritatively, instead of bidding on broad terms like 'skincare.'

Lock down attribution. Make sure you do not become part of the 27.6% Unknown bucket yourself, because the leaderboard's ghost leader is a measurement gap, not a competitor you can outbid.

Move before the market consolidates. Named leadership is 8 to 10 placements, half of what the Unknown bucket already commands. The ghost will not be the leader for long.
